Industrial Services delivers another outstanding Health & Safety Performance

Date: 20/06/2012

The Industrial Services division is pleased to announce they have achieved over 2.2 million man hours without a Lost Time Recordable incident (LTR) over the last 12 months (June 11 to May 12) across all of their 39 sites petrochemical, power generation, nuclear power and pharmaceutical sites within the UK and Ireland.

The Industrial Services Division of Deborah Services is a leading provider of scaffolding and access, insulation, asbestos removal, passive fire protection, and protective coatings.

DSL has been awarded for another consecutive year a Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Occupational Health and Safety. This further demonstrates DSL’s commitment to the safety and wellbeing to all its employees, customers, the public and the environment.

DSL Industrial Services Divisional Director, Chris Foulkes comments ‘‘achieving over 2.2 million man hours without any lost time recordable incidents across all of our sites within the UK and Ireland, is a major achievement and would not have been possible without the expertise along with the commitment from all our site managers and site teams. I would like to thank all our staff who have worked hard to achieve this safety milestone’’.

DSL SHEQ Manager, Neill Moffat comments, ‘‘This exceptional performance is due to the team work and effort of all on site, using the SHEQ tools available HEART behavioural process enables management and supervision to interact with all employees and praise positive behaviours, intervene and stop negative behaviours. In addition we re-launched Point of Work Assessments (POWA) last year, as this allows the teams doing the tasks to identify and take ownership for the hazards as and when they occur. This means they can implement control measures at the time appropriate to the risk present.

We truly have teams that take SHEQ seriously looking not only after their own but others Health and Safety. We now need to maintain the performance and standards we have set but I am absolutely certain with team work, we will continue to work safely and have zero incidents.’’
