I have fount how many registered scaffolders there are in the uk.
Details are below

CISRS aims to ensure that operatives erecting, altering or dismantling scaffolds are properly trained and have sufficient experience to carry out work safely and correctly. The scheme, which is the industry-recognised qualification, has been in existence for over 30 years and is affiliated to the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS). At present, there are over 27,000 scaffolders registered with CISRS. CISRS issues record cards to operatives who have satisfactorily completed the required training, gained appropriate experience, achieved the relevant NVQ/SVQ and passed the industry recognised Construction Skills (CSkills) Health and Safety test.

Please note Neither CISRS certificates of training or S/NVQ Access and Rigging Operations Levels 2 and 3 are recongised as a stand alone qualification. An operative must meet all the requisite CISRS criteria before being deemed competent.

But was wondering how many with:
1) CISRS Labourer Card
2) CISRS Trainee Scaffolder Card (Part 1)
3) CISRS Scaffolders Card (Part 2)
4) CISRS Advanced Scaffolders Card

Any 1 got info on the following?

Only 15% of ECITB ticket holders have changed to the CISRS card. In 2001 25% of scaffolders held this card. Which add to the now 27,000 would put a minimum of 29,700, plus the firms that run domestic with un-registered scaffolders would be well over 30,000:nuts:

benchmark are a peoples company ... Rob West will tell you that himself.. happy workforce results in rewards all round...

I would imagine that peter booth would be willing to have a meeting with the SCCR on the safety issues.. The northern branch in Barnsley carrys approx 120 men inc staff at the moment. Dont know for London.

GET INTO YOUR COMPANIES ..

In terms of annual turnover, Cape are by far the biggest scaffolding contractor in the country.

phill181,

I saw the article you are referring too just last month, and it was a list of the biggest loosers. Cape might well be the biggest but they are all losing money hand over fist at the moment and propping themselves up with other divisions of the company.

Right, well like I said, this was a list of the scaffolding companys with the highest turnover for the year ending April 09.
Apart from one of those on the list it's not my concern whether they make any profit on that turnover.

I'm not arguing with you phil, we might well be talking about different lists, but search construction news pages 3/6/10 under the headline Scaffold Companies Lose in the Recession I think it was, there is definately a list of all the big firms reporting massive reductions to their turn-over. You may very well be quite correct and cape is the largest but I think there has been a few changes recently regarding size.

erm come on phil i reckon d&r

Hahaha, incorrect.

This was published 4-5 months ago I think mate and obviously didn't necessarily reflect what was happening at that moment in time.
We check our competitors financial reports with Companies House from time to time (if we're bored!)
It costs a quid, as I'm sure you know! - and that's all that the Construction news have done.

Fair enough phill, your probably right. The only reason I was even aware of it was when one of our best customers dragged me into the office to hit me over the head with it as a reason to drop my prices. I still reckon the big boy's will be making cut's to survive this recession.

Cuts! That's an understatement mate. I don't know what it's like in your neck of the woods, but they're committing suicide in London!

Crazy pricing at the moment.

Aye ok it was an understatement, but my neck of the woods is the same as every other part of the country at the moment, yard full of gear and the only work on the books is stuff that needs to come down. I'm not contemplating suicide yet but if it get's any worse I might shut the gate and go and play golf.:D

Plimsoll report says cape the biggest by turnover , but information is sketchy

Phil181 - try riskdisk.com , gets ya loads of info up credit ratings the lot better info then companies house

Not all scaffold companies are registered as scaffolders - we aint , our sic code is other specialist trades

Bovis allways a bit of a closed house aint it phil181 ??
