here,s the story brought up in a farmin background love outdoors ended up workin in a factory for 26 years :eek: the place shut down a while back :mad:
im 43 years young ive done a bit o work roofing wi ma father-inlaw ive put a couple o grand aside for training i really like the idea of scaffoldin a good satisfyin days work .am i to late in life to give it a go any tips or advice would be appreciated im in the scottish borders

As Andy said, never too late but at that age do you want to give your money to some training agency that you will learn sweet FA from apart from H/S legislation, OK they will issue you with a ticket but you still have to get a job and learn the trade, if the firms around your area are using system, you'll pick it up in no time, but if its T&F it'll take much longer. Another thing to consider is, are there many scaff firms in your area and is there a volume of work available. Just a suggestion, why not do a bit of research around the area as to the scaff firms refurbishment/servicing needs and if there is an opening there invest in the gear to do the job, could be an earner and if it does'nt work out you'll get your money back.

what size could do wi a couple :D been givin it a load o thought with other things forestry, hgv, etc, one things damn sure am no spendin the next 26 years in a factory :sick:

System Scaffolding is made up from prefabricated pieces and basically just slot in together.

T&F= Tube and Fittings is Tubular steel in various sizes joined together with scaffold couplers of which there are different types and is more adapable compared to system scaffolding.
