I've got about 2 months expirence in scaffolding and i really enjoy it. I've done the odd bit of fixing and boarding out but nothing too major, i need to get myself into a firm where they are willing to train me up i've worked for two relatively big firms and i get the jist that the bigger they are the less they give a **** about you especially because you're new and just a labourer! I personally would rather work for a smaller firm and earn less and be trained up than work for a bigger firm earn more and just be a labourer.
I live in west sussex near brighton and alot of firms dont want to take on trainee's / labourers! Any suggestions?!
I am willing to travel to London if need be!

Thanks
Nathan!

Its nice to have a young guy come on to the forum and ask for advice. You can tell he is keen by his post.
Its a refreshing change from the posts from part 1s demanding 30 quid an hour, jobs in Dubai etc just because they have been in the game 6 months and think they are the dogs.
Good luck Nathan i am sure you will do well in your chosen career.

Thanks Havespannerwilltravel that means alot!
I might of had a lucky break with a firm in brighton which i just literally spoke too!
If you have any adivise on do and dont's im all ears!!!

Well done Nathan. Who is the company. Best advice I can give is watch, listen and learn. Never try and run before you can run. Keep yourself and your work mates safe and life will be good.

who is the firm and how old are you to find out if apprenticeships are appropriate ....
im not sure there is still funding in this area

Hope it works out for ya fella! : ) as long as you love what your doing, you'll always have a passion for making the job look proper tidy and put up in a safe manner! Don't turn into a fat lazy Scaff who needs a young labourer to do his work!!! (there's too many of them out in the world already!!!) : )

welcome to the forum my advice is to get on a big firm in london you arent going to get trained up on a small firm try ringing trad, benchmark, palmers these are the big companies up here good luck.
