HGV and all you need to know

CPC Exemptions

carrying material or equipment to be used by that person in the course of his or her work, provided that driving that vehicle does not constitute the driver's principal activity***

principal activity per day per week or per year? can we travel for 5 hrs work some stay in digs work some and then travel home 5 hrs. Hate the way they wont just say one or the other

I heard of a driver that got pulled by Traffic police a few weeks ago and the driver didn't have any CPC ,
He told them he was a scaffolder and not a driver ,
So they asked to see his scaffolders ticket
Only he didn't have a scaffolders ticket and the firm got done

I swear to god they make the rules up as they go along

The Driver only needs to be part of the squad who are erecting the job and that vehicle is only carrying out the operations on those particular job so there is no requirement for CPC
as long as he is registered as at least a scaffold labourer

That is the whole problem ,
The old bill don't have a clue what their talking about ,
I had a 7.5 tonne lorry tacho except once and got pulled by a motorbike cop ,
He wouldn't accept that I was right ,
Even though I had a fully filled in log book ,
He said he had never heard of it so I must be wrong ,
I phone the garbage that does our 8 week inspections and he told them they where wrong as well :laugh:
Even though they told him they had copy's of the paper work from the ministry

How long will it be before all drivers regardless of duties will need a cpc. I think it will happen.
