Hertel award in safe hands

by Karen McLauchlan, Evening GazetteDec 6 2011

MIDDLESBROUGH-BASED Hertel UK and Ireland, the multi-discipline maintenance services company, has had its safety record recognised in the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2011.

It has been awarded the President’s Award for achieving 13 years of sustained safety excellence. The award was made for Hertel’s safety achievement across the business.

The company employs more than 1,500 staff in the North-east.

The RoSPA achievement awards are presented to companies who can provide evidence of good health and safety management systems.

The award is made only to those who have demonstrated continued commitment to the health and safety programme by having achieved 10 or more consecutive gold awards.

Dave Berry, national HSE manager for Hertel UK and Ireland, said: “The RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards are the benchmark of industry success so it’s an honour to be acknowledged for the 13th time. Reaching this milestone is as important to us as it is our clients, who operate to the same strict standards, and we will continue to keep safety our number one priority.”
