working on a gas plant atm and there was a fire last week. what would you do if you found a fire on the gas plant and what would you expet to happen .......... i would like to here your opinions and ill tell you the atually actions of the site
 
Execute the well drilled Emergency Plan for such an even, is at wat happened Marra ???
 
Get my marshmellows out and give them a bit of a toasting......and start singing " she'll be coming round the mountain ".
 
Turn off my mobile for a start as an electrical spark of any kind could put you into orbit.
Sound the air horn to notify the danger then as quick as you can vacate the site to the nearest safe muster point.

Not worked on a gas plant in years but thats what I would do I should imagine.
 
john you would turn your phone off incase of a spark??what about every other guys phones would you run around tryin to get theyra turned off aswell?
 
If I felt I could tackle the fire and extinguish it then I would tackle it, otherwise I would sound the alarm and evac sharpish,
 
pritty much as i would do hit the alarm and get off site........... other than there isnt a feking fire alarm on site. they have mac alarms, manually activated control or sum **** like that. this then send a message threw to a control room a shift engineer looks on his screen to see if any equipment has failed and if not he then sends a man out on site to find out why it was hit ........... good 15mins worth of work while there is a emergency on a gas plant. 99% of the lads didnt know there wasnt a fire alarm on site.and know mention of them not been a fire alarm in induction n asumed theses mac alarms would sound the horn regardless . but these ma alarms have have been described as incident or accident alarms not emergency alarm. well any there was a fire on site last week were a motor set on fire the ''fire alarm was hit'' no action was taken the alarm wasnt sounded 15 mins a fella comes down to investage why alram was hit is it just me or is this practice feking mental a major gas plant with gas form a gas feild been pumped in to the plant with h2s and god know what other volitile substances feking livid i was

most gas plasnts ive worked on will have their own fire crew and plant phones,which in an emergency you would phone to raise the alarm and tell the control room were and what the incident is.
mobiles are generally a no no due to spark potential
