Hello everyone , just joined up a minute ago as just started up on my own and I'm struggling with loads of different things so was looking for some advice, and I'm new to all this working for myself business!!

beachy jst build wot ur clients want on time and always solve there access problems and they will come bak to ya all sucessful business is built on repeat business and look after ur boys and they will do the damage for ya all the best bud

Alright mate, thanks for the advice it all helps. Do u know anything about hire, cause as I've just started I dont have heaps and heaps of gear and find people take the piss with how long they r keeping there jobs up for!! Just wondering what is a reasonable rate of hire without loosing the jobs ?

Beachy been in buisness for 6 years and it is hard out there mate and with the hire one its hard to judge mate it has lost me a few jobs in the past. Normal rate give them 4-6 weeks hire then charge 5% of job per week just a rough guide. Any thing else mate giz a shout and hope you have a good year.

Welcome Beachy, It can be difficult to get started and to make a profit, do not rely too much on hire materials, best to amass your own asap as they will charge you top rate for any lost material. (this charge comes out of your profit). you'll learn, GOOD LUCK MATE!

Welcome to the forum, if you are hiring your gear from lets say Trad and your customer has it for a 4 weeks hire period on the fifth week and every week after charge him double what you are paying also never charge less than a mimimum of £20.00 per week

Welcome Beachy I did that myself a few years back and made the mistake of hiring too much gear. Avoid it as much as you can for the sake of it taking a considerable chunk out of the price. Obviously somewhere down the line you will have to hire as you are just kicking off your firm, but I would limit it as much as possible mate.
You know the old saying; BEG,STEAL,BORROW OR BUY.:blink1:
