Hello mate I worked out in Sydney 1998-2000 mainly doing power cradles on the Olympic site in Homebush, although we built most of our support rigs in tube & fitting.

Most access scaffolds are built in kwikstage or similar and the general standard is much lower than in the UK.

You will find tube & fitting scaffolds - mainly on industrial work, but you do see it sometimes on 'old' buildings (churches and stuff) with awkward angles etc.

The money is pretty good - When I was there I was clearing $1200 a week, although there was a boom with the Olympics and the introduction of the GST (Their version of VAT) coming in 2000.

Got a Kiwi mate who's been working on the mines in WA. Taking home $3000 a week - That's the place to earn atm. A regular poster on this forum is currently working there I think - 'Havespannerwilltravel'

Drop him a PM and he might be able to give you some contacts.

Good luck.
