I'm of the growing opinion that more should be done to encourage companies to take on the system's existing trainees before creating new ones - for my part I am making enquiries with the CITB as to whether trainees can work towards their portfolio when engaged through ForeFront. I don't know the system as well as others on here might and welcome any related suggestions. With the number of part 1s trapped in a vicious circle re portfolios perhaps 'the powers that be' should address this before inevitably creating a polarised workforce - inspectors and trainees.
Hopefully a number of trainees will reach their next level through this centre so good on Harsco for this.

I don't see why you couldn't get your portfolio signed off from a supervisor when working for an agency Dom, don't think it matters as long as they have the right experience.
As for Harsco, all the best but not sure if the work is out there for system only yet. We did our product training over 2 years ago and to date we are the last group to be trained, nobody is bothering with it.
