Handrails/Ladders

Evening Gents,

Question for you all.
Been told today that handrails down the side of an external ladder should technically have design input.
We all know it is bog standard, but what are the guidance on this please?

Maybe I'm missing something but when did h/r down the rake of a ladder become bog standard??.

We've done it occasionally but more off our own backs than the contractors request.- as far as i'm aware ive seen no guidance in either tg or sg notes.

but if a safety officer queried the handrail tbh I would have to querie his motives.

Worked on a bellways site a few years ago and thats what they wanted. No health and safety benefit what so ever.
