Does the green hat still stand in the uk offshore sector ?
If so can anyone send a copy of the the requirements as they are trying to bring this rule in offshore out here but for company people only, have been trying to get it in there heads it's all new people to the complex not just staff.
If there is a video that would be even better?
Cheers

nothing in cape but bp has it saying
Anyone new to the platform who has not been on the platform in 12 months will wear a green hat for thier first few trips or 3 months which, ever is longer thats all it says on the matter havent got a scanner to do the page for you m8t.

it also says
All infrequent, short duration visitors will wear a green hat regardless of when they were last on site.
Green hats will be accompanied at work sites until they satisfy their platform supervisor that they have the adequate knowledge of Platform Standards and Working Standards. and thats it m8t

As a grad Iosh advanced scaffolder/safety rep I can advise you all new personnel to a platform offshore have to wear a green hat for three full trips.
Also there is a requirement for new personnel to use a green arm band on the helicoter on their first trip to an instalation ,I hope this answers your Question.

can 3 green hats first time on platform be allowed to go out as a gang on there first trip without any supervision .bearing in mind if there was a muster of an accident they would nt have a clue where to go .

The answer to your question is in no way can that happen, because as you are correct in saying that as they have no knowledge or understanding of the platform or safety systems in place there is a need for them to be escorted at all times by expierienced personnel

BLUEGER that is the ideal situation but when there are masjor projects the buddy system is not always possible.the reason for the green hat policy is so that in the case of a muster, platform personnel will be able to look out for the green hats and lead them in the right direction etc.

Hi happyhugenoet it does not matter, step change in safety state in no way do green hats work without an expierenced platform guy with them.
And as I know it has never been allowed on any platform.

This was the BP way to identify any new personal and so on Ie musters and taken out permits for the first 3 trips.
But now it is used to spot any one regardless there experience on the platform
It is now used to see who is in the tea shack and so on .
It is good for any first Time tripers
But is as i said the new tool for the core team to say we can not get seat for green hats
