At last some good news with the signing of this deal between the British and French for the build of theses new nuclear power station.Last June, ministers announced plans for the next generation of UK nuclear plants.
There are plans to build a new nuclear power plant at Sellafield in Cumbria
The government confirmed a list of eight sites it deems suitable for new power stations by 2025, all of which are adjacent to existing nuclear sites.
The sites are: Bradwell, Essex; Hartlepool; Heysham, Lancashire; Hinkley Point, Somerset; Oldbury, Gloucestershire; Sellafield, Cumbria; Sizewell, Suffolk; and Wylfa, Anglesey.the will produce a lot of work for us lads and there is a promise that to start with they will only take labour from the local areas, the station down our way is Hinkley point and it has reported that 75% of the labour will come from Somerset. All the sites are still at the planning stage ,but the government would not be so open about this deal if they did not intend to give planning. there will be lots of opposition to all the sites, and the treeehuggers have already started up a tent village next to the proposed site at Hinkley point. but at long last there should be plenty of jobs generated and some decent money earnt. And hopefully with no ripping off agencies or a in flux of eastern Europeans who cant even read the direction on the gate let alone the site safety rules.

Good news plenty of work for the lads now, as long as they stick to local labour where they can. Hopefully things are going to get better.

They also announced a new hydro power station, wait for it..... at Loch Lochy, not as Highland League as it sounds and will provide jobs for a lot of men.

Local labour?Does that mean 25 Eastern Europeans living in the same house in the area? That's what happened on the Liverpool One Project, tons of foreign labour but all housed locally.Let's hope local means local.

This is good news all round I think. Not only will it give much needed work to local lads but hopefully there will be a knock on effect for local companies like ours. If the labour pool is restricted the rates should rise and all will be happy.

I agree and to be honest I reckon there is a whole different world using the PM facility away from prying eyes. Sounds good in theory but not sure how you could make it work in your favour.

it wouldnt be the first time you lads have worked away without the digg money would it,just ask any of the lads down pembroke way.
and im not laughing out loud.

no diggs no travel,if you do you are shiotting on the naeci agreement and playing into the hands of the main contractors and the plan they have of destroying the national agreement.
