I am getting a bit of stick on here for posting jobs and being told that the rates we are paying are below the norm. Can you let me know what the going rate is in the different parts of the country.

Scotland
Edinburgh
Glasgow
Dundee
Aberdeen

England
North East
Newcastle
Leeds
Middlesboro
North West
Manchester

Thanks for your help on this.

Its the enforcement of the umbrella system , it doesn't work for guys on 40 hrs at 12.50 , the fact is these guys are worse off than when they were using the utr , thousands a year worse off . you cant blame the taxman , there is people all over Britain still using utr , yourselves and the taxman are having a laugh at our expense. Rate is not the problem its your system of pay.

Stledger I agree with you that umbrella is not for everyone. It is more suited to someone travelling and doing long hours. However our hands are tied with the new CIS rules. Our company dont want to take the risk of paying CIS and getting hammered by the taxman. CIS will slowly disappear over time. The only other thing that you could do is set yourself up as a LTD company and be paid that way. I would imagine that the taxman will be looking at that as well as this currently would be the only way to be similar to CIS.

Jig are you stalking me. If you look at the replies that I have had regarding rates you will understand why I put this up. If i get reasonably replies then I can go back to our clients to see if we can do anything regarding rates.

There's a lot of good agy,s like forefront , a forum sponsor who upped rates partly to get guys but also because they're decent. They know that scaffs realise in this umbrella system their rate must be upped because of the double ni payment. Like I said its the 40 hrs a week man getting shafted while the 80 hrs a week man rakes it in . 14 an hr on umbrella should be about right for the 40 hrs a week guy , almost the same as his 12.50 on utr.

I agree totally with you on that stleger it is trying to get the hiring managers to understand this and agree to increase the rates. I am working on it with our clients but its not easy.

Cheers Robbo I understand that agencies have a bad rep but not all of us are in it for a quick buck. As I have said on a thread I have worked both sides of the fence so understand it from both an agency and temp point of view. I then try to find a middle ground that keeps everyone happy. Not easy

Being Honest I Have To Agree With St Ledger, I Really Grudge The Umberella Payment System To Have To Pay To Be Paid Just Isnt Right, That Said I Have Worked For Yourselves And Other Agencies And Certainly Would Work For You Again Mind You They Might Have Something To Say About That At Interserve,

Has anyone come across better play? You save 85/90% of your wages. Quite a complex system well especially as I had an Irishman explain it lol but seems good

Fair play for engaging with the labour force Carbon.
Stleger has already made a decent case for the prosecution.

Stoned I agree with Stleger also but it is trying to change hiring managers views on pay.

Thank god im a dinosaur haven't a clue what you guys are on about
