HANDSOME hunks will reveal all when they strip down to their bare necessities to raise cash for a South Tyneside charity.

The six men say they will not even leave their hats on when they perform The Full Monty in front of a sell-out crowd at the Neon Social Club in Jarrow.

Dubbing themselves “The Jarrow Chipolatas,” scaffolder Scott Shorten, 24, his barman brother Adam Shorten, 19, driver Garry Archbold, 24, plater Christopher Watson, 19, electrician Christopher Scullion, 24, and health worker Christopher Fitzpatrick, also 24, will strip down to their birthday suits to raise cash for St Clare’s Hospice in Jarrow.

The hospice, in Primrose Terrace, Jarrow, has annual running costs of almost £2m – £1.4m of which it has to raise itself.

It is £50,000 short this year, and last week the Gazette launched its c/o St Clare’s campaign to plug that gap.

All six cheeky fundraisers are baring all in secret rehearsal sessions as they prepare for their saucy club debut, on Saturday, December 3, at 7pm.
Organiser Scott Shorten, of The Circle, Primrose, Jarrow, said: “All the lads are prepared to go all the way and do The Full Monty.

“We’re all pretty fit, with myself, Garry and Christopher Watson playing for The Jarriovians rugby club.

“Most of us have done the Great North Run and some even the Coast to Coast event.

“We’re calling ourselves The Jarrow Chipolatas – which is our version of The Chippendales – and we hope to raise between £2,000 and £2,500 for the hospice, which we all agreed was a great cause.

“The rehearsals are going really well and the routine will see us stripping off to the song You Can Leave Your Hat On, from the movie The Full Monty, which all the lads know and love.”

He added: “People have been warned that we’re stripping right down.

“If anyone is offended, they should stay away.

“We reckon that there will be around 300 people in the audience.”
Mr Shorten also backed the Gazette’s c/o St Clare’s campaign.

He said: “We would back the Gazette campaign, as I believe people should do all they can to support their hospice, which is such a good cause.”

Mr Shorten thanked his mum, Allyson Shorten, for all her help, plus fashion expert, Julie Perry, for helping design The Full Monty-style security uniforms, which will be quickly discarded by the Jarrow male strippers during their three-minute routine.

Organisers are still appealing for raffle prizes for the bare-all fundraiser at the Neon Social Club.

If you can help, or need ticket details, call Mr Shorten on 0779 242 9537.
