General Manager - Contract Scaffolding
Location: London Based

My client is a successful player in the contract scaffolding sector and is part of a larger international group offering associated products and services to access and scaffolding industry in general. It also prides itself on its professionalism and has a reputation for outstanding service. They undertake projects of any scale and have the workforce and stock to carry out large and complex projects simultaneously. Due to the planned growth of the business a decision has been made to recruit a General Manager to head up all the support services functions within the business, which will free up the Managing Director to focus upon other areas of the business directly related to its contracting activities via the Divisional Directors.
The role reports directly to the Group Managing Director and offers future development potential. The General Manager has the remit to oversee all budgetary responsibilities for all the support services functions within the business from transport, purchasing (non-scaffold stock), fleet, property, accounts, yard to health and safety. The role will support and assist the day to day Scaffolding business, but will not be involved in the design, business development, and project management of the contracting divisions; he/she will instead head up the support services functions mentioned above, which are essential to the efficiency and profitability of the business.
Candidate - Contract Scaffolding:
* You will need at least 5 years' experience from a senior business administration type role within the construction sector or similar. If this experience is in Contract Scaffolding that will be an advantage, but is not essential. You will need to be a self-starter, have experience of controlling budgets with excellent business administration skills and excellent people skills, as the team are all long standing employees and the successful candidate will have to gain the respect and trust of these people.
* The successful candidate will be a strong leader of people and man-manager, as the role will manage approximately 40 people in total, with 7 direct reports.
* You will need to be based in a commutable distance to the Head Office in London as this is where the role will be based out of, which is closely accessible to a London underground station.
