Is it right for some forum members who own a company or work for a company, (NOT a scaffold company but has something to do with our industry) to send private messages asking to post about their product or offering training for example rather being an official sponsor ?

Unless they knew you personally, I'd say it was exactly the same as getting spam emails, so I would report them to admin and get them banned.

After all, people have been banned for less :blink1:

I have had loads of messages from people trying to manipulate the forum for their own ends, I usually just either ignore them or tell them to feck off.

This forum is a fairly powerful tool and it's the sheer frustration of those and such as those who would love to control it but can's that amuses me.

There is a danger though, and the trolls are not helping. It was definitely on the way down a while back and that would suit some fine.

I have recommended products and suppliers on here before, where people have asked for advice
Its not as a promotion, its just the things we use ourselves that we are happy with
Likewise if other members post things of interest I will look into them as well
 
We've never done that here (I know you're not pointing at us, RedViking - just saying!) and besides, much of the time we don't know if guys on here are clients or not because we don't know their forum names.

We do ask clients, if they are happy with our service, to review us on Freeindex but that is after we have built a relationship with them.

How can you ask to review or endorse something you have no knowledge of?
 
I've never had any spam or PM's asking to endorse products on here.

Nothing wrong with that Hatterscaff, I do that myself and have been introduced to a few different products through the forum that I would otherwise have no knowledge of. One of the benefits of coming on here.
 
Never had PMs like that, if they aint sponsors either block them or if it's spamming report to admin.
 
I HAVE JUST HAD A COUPLE TODAY FUNNILY ENOUGH ONE WAS FOR THE BNP,UKIP ALSO INTIMATED THEY WOULD ALSO LIKE ME TO PROMOTE THEM VIA THE FORUM.
I DONT KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT THIS COOKIE SHIIT BUT WHAT MAKES THEM PM ME FOR FECK SAKE :eek:

If they were advertising , lets say free beer or tidy looking female escorts I couldn't see a problem. But if they were adverisng Trowels or long levels or bricks or cement based products I would oi NO..
