deck op/rigger/scaffolder
their advertising for the job above this is one position what a joke these big companies are bad enough we have to pay for all our courses for scaffolding never mind rigger/deck op and survival no wonder offshores going down the pan if theyre getting one man doing 3 different jobs surely nobodys got all these.

colin there are plenty of deck crew scaffs they really dont do much ion the way of scaffolding
when it first started around 20 years ago they would have a rigger a painter a scaffolder and maybe a lagger.the thinking was that they would work together and help each other but it never really worked out that way.
Most deck scaffs will get scaffs out for anything other than a hop up.;)

I haven't been offshore since the 80's but as Happy says multi-discipline was the route forward back then, you needed to paint, lag and scaff.

suppose point am trying to make is the money this person would have to spend to get all these qualifications with no help from these companies.

well you provided these courses for years colin lol welcome to our world again

What's the big thing about offshore?
I'd rather work for a living and have more disposable cash.

Being Honest Havespanner I Never Really Fancied Being Offshore Buddy , Maybe If I Had Taken A Few Folks Up On There Offer I Would Be In A Different Position Now.

Offshores by no means all its cracked up to be ger. Dont get me wrong i do enjoy it and have met some cracking lads but there is plenty ******* out there that will try shaft you for nothing and tensions are high at the moment out there.

Cash wise theres more money on the beach at moment especially in the big smoke but when you think about it including holidays the offshore lads only need to work 5 month out the year for a good wage and when your home you have nothing but free time to spend with family and friends which is what i do it for. Isee more of the kids now than i did working on the beach

Ger going on from Jamie's post if you ever fancy a stint in London let me know mate I'll pull out all the stops for you fella ;)
