Heard about this on the wireless on the way home Any idea if/how this will effect us scaffs travelling to and from site will we be eligable for extra hours any ideas?

Welcome to the forum Wilkie.. Wireless!!!..giving yur age away there mate. lol.
I would imagine Eu ruling wouldnt have any exclusions. Bosses wont like it tho.:D

for all the faults the EU has its does try to defend workers rights but sadly due to our own lack of respect for family time and or Greed for Money,we fall for the Government line of OPT OUT as we have all dope with the working time directive.
WE GET THE DEAL WE DESERVE
and it wont be this one AGAIN

Frederik cheers pal not old yet though mate just northern just as bad in some eyes I suppose!
Yeah had a feeling when I heard it it'll be a long way off even if it does apply to us the way most firms wriggle out of stuff. Just have to wait and see I suppose

This law won't affect people going to a fixed point each day,it is aimed at door to door salesman and carers etc etc,I do agree with it though it's disgusting how carers don't get paid for travelling to each home to do their caring duties only for the 15 minutes they are in the home.but as pointed out by HH it won't happen in the UK as we have opted out of the legislation.

That's why I was asking pal as it depends what the definition of a fixed work place is. Sure I've read somewhere before for another reason for a site to be classed as a fixed place of work you have to be on there for 2 years. I don't think we can opt out of it either mate if it's eu legislation it becomes the law surely

Nah mate,we opted out of the EU maximum hours per week allowed to work aswell, not sure about the length of time travelling to the same job to class it as a fixed point but we have definitely opted out of the legislation anyway.
