This is confusing. I didn't think we had to do the 35 hours of driver cpc as driving is not our main job as scaffolders but some people are telling me I have to do it. I have my c1 (7.5 tonne) licence through grandfather rights.

Any thoughts lads...

Having Driver CPC through 'acquired rights'

You could have the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) through ‘acquired rights’ if you’re already a professional lorry, bus or coach driver.

This means that because you’ve already been working as a lorry or bus driver, your experience is counted as the same as taking the Driver CPC initial qualification.

You’ll still need to do 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years to keep your Driver CPC.

When you need to do periodic training

If you’ve got your Driver CPC by ‘acquired rights’ you must do 35 hours of periodic training by 9 September 2014 if you’re a lorry driver.

Provided driving isn't the main part of your job u shouldn't need cpc!
They actually use scaffolders as an example of not needing cpc
On road haulage assosciation website!

cpc

Have printed out the page from the government website, and keep it in the cab,I'm bound to get stopped by the old bill over the next few weeks, after all I am a scaffolder.

Spoke to a guy who does the cpc training and he couldn't say 100% if you would or wouldn't need cpc.

I suppose will have to wait until we get stopped.

Cpc

when I did my CPC about a month back was told by the guy who done our course if you are going to a job and the scaffolding is your main work in the day you do not need one But if you drop a load at another site for some other lads to work with on the way to your job you do need a CPC
