Did any of you good lads see?

On the news last night, Seb (LORD) Coe was interview in the stand of the Olympic park. No action at all going on.

He was wearing eye protection, safety helmet, gloves and hig viz coat, although I could not see but I guess he was wearing safety boots as well

Are the safety zealots going OTT with all this safety gear?

There is a place for it when there is no alternative to eliminating of minimising risk

That maybe true mate and I can hear where you are coming from. However, if I was working on that site and I saw VIP's getting special exemption from wearing PPE, then I'd be a little bit upset.

Yes it's ridiculious, but the rules are that anyone entering site shall be required to wear a hat, boots, gloves, hi-viz vest & glasses.

A good leader has to lead by example. Imagine the uproar if he didn't wear PPE!
 
I agree with you Phil, I worked on a job before and they ferried 4 suits into the building for a walk round. I fu.cked them right out of it but was warned that i could be disciplined for it. I told the site agent to fu.ck off and get them off site otherwise I would report him to HSE (I was having a twa.t of a day). He didn't have a leg to stand on the hypocritical bas.tard. Took them off as well and brought em back with full PPE :D

john prescott visited the marks and spencer demo job after the bomb in manchester in 96 his wife had a big f??k off hairdo that looked like an explosion in mattress factory and declined a hard hat one of the bovis managers to his credit went ballistic shouting 'weve already had one fatality on this site get her a hat or get her off.
 
im more bothered about the fact that no decent scaffolders seem to be getting a shout for the work due to the fact that nobody with half a brain would want to stay in the postcodes required.yet again NO BRITISH JOBS FOR BRITISH WORKERS:mad::mad::mad:

I was on there mate and I live in Kingston, the local jobs thing is a load of shi.t. They advertise a few for locals but most of the people on there are actually from another country, another planet even and they dont live in the area either :nuts:

I was striking a demo independent in m/cr city centre a bovis job with Keltbray doing the demo , half 2 ish one of lads said '' you feel that '' what was the reply then right away we all felt the full building move and the scaffold aswell ,not an happy bunny told the lads to wash up and i'll find out whats going on .
Goes to the front of the building and bold as brass sat in this mighty long reach cruncher was a VIP women sat in the machine moving the joysticks with the demo driver stood on the step at the side of her telling her what to do while posing for picture's for construction news .
Needless to say i vented my anger at putting mine and the lads lives at danger and asked to see her cscs card etc, only to be told to stop swearing as we are part of the '' considerate contractors scheme'' as it was my last week at the firm i told 'em to all go forth & multiply .
One rule for one ........

I worked at London Bridge with Kelbray, I'd prefer the woman vip driving than some of their blokes, they were completley mad and didn't give a fu*k about safety.

This stuff happens all the time and drives me mad, even our directors wife does this from time to time, she happily trott of across our yard, no vis, no toecaps or h/hat to chat to whoever...then rant and bollock anyone she see's doing the same.

While working on a job once, these 2 idiots decided to come and inspect something just below where we were working, asked them to move, which they didnt....carried on working a few minutes. A massive pile of leaves and **** had built up on the boards which 'accidentally' got tipped over them when I turned the boards, just said...'sorry didnt see you there without your hi-vis and hard hat', they got the message and promptly buggered off.
