Just wondering if anyone allows a percentage towards damaged or lost materials, especially when pricing site work. It would probably price you off the job, but if any one does what percentage would you allocate to it?
I've never known anyone specifically price it into their estimates on a percentage basis, either including it in the general overheads and profit percentage (what profit I hear you shout :laugh or a specific amount for known tube cuts, contaminated boards, etc.
However, a company I worked for previously used to work on 2-3% of turnover for losses when preparing annual budget forecasts.
MCs who we work with would be expected to pay full replacement for materials damaged in situ such as being struck by a forklift for example or if tube had to be cut but tbh i dont think any would take kindly to an increase on price for materials that may or may not get damaged...lower the risk by not swamping the site with materials- for us loading bay gates seem to be the main damage & will only be replaced with a site instruction & call to the QS
