I'm currently applying for a job with interserve and they require a cv, I've never filled out one of these I tried going on the cv tips sticky but it won't let me open it has anyone got any advice before I fill one in. Cheers

Keep it simple, just build it like you would a job, one bit at a time. List all your scaffold qualifications but forget school unless you actually achieved something worthwhile. XxIanxX did put a template on the forum once but not sure where, good luck.

Heres mine looks ok when you tart it up using microsoft word.
Heres the link it opens for me

haha, nice one Ian, especially liked the link but I still say mine is the better CV.

One top tip is try to keep it to 2 pages only as I have read a few and I get board reading them. Start with:-

C U R R I C U L U M V I T A E (spell it right and centralise it)
NAME
ADDRESS
TELEPHONE NUMBERS (land line and mobile)
DATE & PLACE OF BIRTH
AGE
MARITAL STATUS
DRIVING LICENCE (full and clean (if poss) and if you can drive a 7.5 tonne)
TRADE QUALIFICATIONS (dates when you have past)
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS (education and further education qualifications)
PREVIOUS EMPLOYMENT (date when started and finished) and a brief description of what you did with every employer.
GENERAL INTERESTS
REFERENCES

I hope this helps...

Best of luck...

Another tip I like to remind the more remedial amongst us is to speel passed correctly.

Theres some good tips here.
Ive been told NOT to include your NI number, as people could use it for identity fraud.

Other then that, just try to sell yourself as best as you can.
Beef up your achievements, include every single little thing that you have done that can be considered good or unique. :)

In this day and age, i think that us Scaffolders all need a good and well written CV, if only to keep on your PC for times when potential employers request it.

Again cheers chaps some good info there fingers crossed it works and gets me away from the hell hole that I'm currently workin for

The hardest bits are employment dates,i cant even remember half the firms names let alone the dates, but doe'snt everyone just make them bits up anyway?
