Condemned 3 scaffolds this week

Spent 4 years in H&S and up until this week had only ever had to condemn one scaffold. This week I have had 3:eek:. Here are some pictures of one of them.

never seen that done with the hop up bracket before , bet that was lively
 
12 lifts by 100m to dismantle and re-erect all because they didn't set out correctly. Always worth taking that bit of extra time when basing out the 1st lift

I can't believe the supervisor/manager/site agent/.contracts manager/foreman scaffolder, canteen lady let it actually get 12 lifts high before anybody checked. Bet your popular Ian, I'm betting it wasn't the scaffold firm who called you in to check the scaffold over ,and I'm betting the Main contractor is now regretting getting the cheapest firm to do the job.
Serves them all right ,tight wads.

system scaffold shud be banned and that that tie kud be done rite for 2 quid
 
two good things about these pictures. the suns out and the trees look nice and green.

I'm not saying this is the case but maybe that was t&f guy's. I don't think a whole squad of system guy's would have allowed that without atleast one of them spotting the problem. On the other hand it could have been anybody who just said "feck it."

I know you are into the h&s side at the opposite end from the country from me, that's why I didn't reply to your thread when offering your or your company's services but I have just had a visit from a company called Citation offering the same service and I wondered if you have heard of them?
 
No I haven't heard of them aom. The only thing I can advise is that if you do use their services always try and use someone with a background in scaffolding. Another job I went to last week had 6 different h&s advisers inspect the scaffolding and it was a lot worse than the one I have put pictures up . They only managed to find minor faults. The top six lifts on one elevation had no ties , ledger bracing was missing on numerous lifts, etc etc.
 
No bother Ian, I will keep that in mind.
 
thought citation was more into HR and employment law , have heard of them and they are a big outfit i believe
