Being promoted to a supervisor next month after being a stand in supervisor on/off.
One thing I have noticed is the amount of paperwork involved. All of the supervisors here dont use computers so being a bit of a computer whizz I am going to go down that route.
I have compiled some spreadsheets with excell which I will basically use for cataloguing and working out hours on jobs e.t.c . Just wanted to know from the supervisors on here how they plan and catalogue and do the maths on their computers ( what software e.t.c)

xl spreadsheets mate , just enter all ya formulas and calcs off you go , do all the hours wages exras valuations ect all in that
good luck with your promotion

excell is a powerfull tool once you get your head round all the brilliant stuff it can do.

its all computer work work pal. dont for get when you leave the office at 5-6pm then your still doing the work till midnight while having the odd hr on here . basiclly supervisors should be on more than directors. But somebody has got to do it....PMSL... when the phone is still going at 11pm ect , enjoy the stress.....

Had a text message a few weeks ago from a numpty at 5.00am saying he wouldnt be in for the morning as he just got in, wasnt fckin overjoyed at that one!!
Guess where he's working today....stripping a job at a shitfarm....revenge is a sweet thing..hehehehehe.

Ive got a load of old Palmers spread sheets we use for working out the extras. Its basicaly a schedule of rates i.e. list of scaffold jobs ,independant, birdcage, stairs, different handrails, stairs ,loading bay per lift, lift shaft per rising metre etc with a rate attached metre run or m3 or m2 or rising metre, that sort of thing. When your lads give you a site instruction you simply put the instruction number on the top of the sheet with the customer details and job number and calculate the cost using the spread sheet. For exaple if the vo said 14m of independant with boards, simply go to the list where it says independant ,fill in the amount of metres i.e 14 and it adds it up at the bottom. The surveyor can then see how you arrived at the figure and you do this for every extra and send them in,simples and works very well indeed.Write at the bottom a brief description of where ,when and who for.
If you need them let me know. Perhaps we could have a section on the forum for swapping this kind thing and risk statements and the like FORUM ADMINISTRATOR I am sure there is a big demand out there accross the board ,perhaps the SCCR could use them and standardise them for all its members, sort of SCCR approved ???????????
