We have been asked to quote for a 3m x 3m fully boarded rubbish chute, five floors high. I have a couple of queries with this. Are there any drawings or advice in erecting these in compliance with TG.13? Never really had the need to erect one before. Also should I quote the boards inside the chute as a sale item as they are likely to get damaged? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Must they be boarded ?

If not try George Roberts Scaffolding Sales.

Or type in rubbish chutes for sale uk or rubbish chutes for hire uk and see results.

I would charge per board as they will get smashed to fcuk. Will need plenty of T clips as well.

You'll have to erect a tower (2x2m?) inside the chute so that when your boards are clipped on you can strip it away leaving your fully boarded chute. Obviously remember to price for this to be re-erected when it's coming down. I would also charge for the boards as sale items as they will be good for sole boards only by the time you get them back.

A bit of thought and planning and it is possible to board it without any additional tower.

Hi mate, I would recommend that you get a design for this. You have to take into account the loadings and also the punishment it will take.Done one a few weeks ago on a demo job was for hardcore only until the demo foreman decided to put the iron down it aswell.
Now doing another one but this will be ply lined first then tin sheets screwed on top of the ply.Has to be erected of of a tower up the inside but we have managed to strike the other one lift by lift,oh yeah and write the boards off !!
Will get some pics up for you of the one we are doing now.

Thanks for the replies, obviously going to put a load more money on the job rather than using a typical plastic chute. Hopefully I wont price myself off it, will probably give two options, plastic and boarded out chute and let them see what a saving they could make.
Cheers.

Shore reversed surely ?alan reade

I have done a few of these in the past am must admit I am not a fan of them.
The bigger the opening they want the bigger the sh*t they intend to throw down them which results in more damage to the scaffold and more risk for the Scaffold Contractor.

They will without a doubt damage your boards so they must go in at sale, they will almost certainly want it lined with something once the see the dust coming out of the gaps, so you need to consider how you are going to get in to sort it.

Very few people consider the wind on these towers when they are constructed as a stand alone unit but they are in fact clad structures and need to be adequately tied.

Be aware you will suffer considerable damage and be at risk when putting it right or striking the scaffold when finished

Shag,

Also allow a charge for re-visits, if the inside becomes damaged you may be required to build additional access towers for possible repairs you cannot police its use after handover and will not be easy to visually inspect.

I'd like to know more details on one of these please, I may have a client interested in something simular. Do you park the skip on the bottom of the chute and just let stuff fall in? Is there a maximum height for dropping stuff in?

Get a design pigman, these things take a battering, open top and bottom. secure areas for drops and clearance.dust issue's,quite a bit to consider as other posts have mentioned. Pm Alan Reade, always helpful with forum members.
