I have bad elbows wrist and shoulders I bought a makita 18v had it 18 months 2 batts1 charger about £350 unless you get it off eBay I got mine out of a shop for convenience

I Saw A Scaffolder Being Yellow Carded On Friday For Using A Gun, The Health And Safety Nazis Dont Care About Our Wrists And Elbows, There Attitude Is If You Cant Do The Job Then Leave, Nice People Eh?

snap on???? there good tools and like a bit of grunt

Don't buy one!!!!!

Rent them from hilti

I think Hilti have removed their offer to hire to scaffolders, nothing to do with a fit for purpose tool just they have finally realised what most have known since the dawn of time, if you don't make the scaffs responsible for something in some way they will wreck it.

Andy, for me Gary has already pointed you in the right direction but as Gerscaff has pointed out there are a lot of ignorant people out there policing our trade so you have to be careful they will be accepted where you work. Unfortunately, MC's have the right to ban whatever they want although anyone banning these machines are doing so through ignorance and just a plain lack of understanding what 20 odd years on the spanners can do to a body and in my opinion leaving themselves open to claims from RSI as they are obviously not doing all they can to reduce long term health concerns for their workers, which is a basic requirement of law. The over torquing issues and training requirement can easily be overcome with a few pages of risk assessment.

Check out the older threads about this as theres loads of info about it

going for the new Milwaukee gun,

I may have the user mixed up but did John the Manc not go for the same and regret it soon after?

I'm sure it was him that got on to me about pushing either the Makita or Hilti all the time, but the Milwaukee gun has a huge advertised torque rating and will frighten the britches clean off clipboard cliff.

hi gary, not the cheapest, its about £340/390,depends were you go,
it is light, compared to some,18v,4 amp batteries,
yes aom, has got big torque,
still not decided yet, been using a de walt one, borrowed off a fellow scaff,£355,seems good, much the same spec as milwaukee, not as high torque, now i am confused, lol

Tbh stop pisssin about & get a makita...g8 bit of kit other than the occational new set of brushes required (under a £5) theyre robust & hard wearing & have proven themselves to be a capable tool- long battery time with a fast recharge which can also be interchanged with their other tools & radios....we use them all the time.

A friend of mine has a Makita 18v lithium ion one. I've used a good few times and don't really have a Bad word to say about. He's done two or three fittings to my one. Only thing I don't like is the price tag. £350 or thereabouts. I would say though its a good idea to buy a tether if your thinking of getting one because it eliminates the possibility of dropping it, which WILL happen.
