Bank backing leads to Olympic scaffolding success
Last updated: 25th Aug 2011 at 08:13am |
Contracts to provide scaffolding for test events ahead of the London Olympics and golf's Omega World Cup in China have been won by Garforth-based RIM Scaffolding Events Services. It comes after the business won financial backing from Yorkshire Bank.
The specialist scaffolding business, led by joint managing directors William Irish and Peter Madden, said it has also created 18 new jobs this year and is launching a new office in Guangzhou, China.
The business, which has a warehouse in Abu Dhabi, is also planning to open an office in the United Arab Emirates early next year (2012) to expand its services in the Middle East.
The company said backing from Yorkshire Bank Leeds has included asset finance to fund extra scaffolding stock required to support the 2012 Olympic test events and the Omega World Cup.
Irish said: "We have had to fund expansion out of cashflow for the last two years during the credit crunch which has constrained our growth ambitions.
"We spoke to several banks but found Yorkshire Bank to be ideal.
"We achieve 85 per cent repeat business on annual events and are currently heavily involved with the Olympic test events which is a good indication of our involvement with the London 2012 Olympic Games."
The Garforth-based business was founded as a partnership in 1991 and three years later became a limited company.
In 1997 the business diversified into the specialised events sector and currently has 65 members of staff and a £3.5m turnover.
