Bad back!

Over the years the job has taken its toll on my back. I'm still young and physical fit but I do notice the bending and lifting more as I get older. Recently I've been lying on a hot water bottle to try and loosen it up. I really do think it works. Any one got some tips for keeping the body in good working order??
 
i use a electric blanket in the winter that seems to help but you find your self sleeping on top of the bed early hours of the morning where its too hot
 
Its direct heat to the lower back that seems to work. I dont want to go to a specialist as my backs not a real problem, yet. I think that when you get some one poking and prodding about, thats when the problems start.

prevention is better than cure ther is a thread on here about it some swear by chinesse meds and some acupuncher ill have a look for the thread

I obviously know nothing of your circumstance Tony but heat is not always the solution, cold can be very effective on damaged muscle especially back strain. I do understand your feelings about the professionals, but to be honest they are like accountants, find the right one and you are laughing. I am coming to the end of over a year of rebuilding my back and hopefully will never need to go back.
 
I often suffer from the same symtoms & used to use deep heat, raljex or good old fashtion horse linimint.but have foyndxa product dold in boots the chemist called Bio-freeze costs about £3 Atube and is g8 ....i cant recommend it enough, byt make sure you wash ur hands afterwards cos u'll know it big time if u rub ur eyes or touch ur cock lolol
 
Probably goes back to first few years in the game when carrying more than u would normally to impress/show u can!

How many of u now have shoulders that don't sit the same?(one lower than the other?)
 
I had troubles for years i now stretch and do back exercises and dont really get to many problems.

look on you tube for back exercises your be suprised how much they

Hope the link works the bloke is a yank and quite annoying and must scaffolders will think the exercises look a bit stupid but these really do work guys.

As above said .. Try Bio-Freeze ... But its not £3 a tube its around the £9 + area ... But dont get the tube of gel . Get the spray as you can put it on yourself easily on your back ...
But I would go see a physio first and get a remedial massage it costs but well worth it in the long run . Your back is like your car if you dont give it a maintenace check it will break down at some point .
 
Reoccuring theme this one ,we've all been there mate .My advice go to a Chiropractor ,they are good at realignment ,many times your back will be out of "level" if you like and a Chiropractor will realign you.
As AOM states above ,find the right professional for you and you are laughing.

Don't know about chiropractors heard some bad reports, my back has been bad for years, to a point I get out of bed and crawl on the floor, so I have a bag of Ice always in the freezer lie on that with a thin towel at the bottom of your back mate works wonders as it draws all the inflammation out of the joint.

I went to two chiropractors until I found a good one ,

its my shoulders that suffer most ,,, after 16 years i crack like a cockroach when i lift my shoulders and elbows , , chiropractors are not medically recognised ,, i went to sport phisio a while back and the top phisio said cracking your back bones into place is worse than cracking your knuckles ,, brings arthritus ,, easing the bones into place does the same thing without causing harm !!!

He is going to say that about chiropractors as they don't like competition ,and so let's slag em off and keep our monopoly ,Go to a Mctimoney Chiropractor they use gentle methods ,not cracking bones.
When you to Australia or America you will see Chiropractors surgeries all over the place.
 
I have had my back cracked loads of times and the guy always apologises, I can't think why as I love it. Like your knuckles, causing arthritis is an old wifes tail as it's just your muscle releasing some form of gas whilst going back into alignment, it is not your bones.

I 100% agree with you... Light stretching after you wake up.... Followed by more when you get suited and booted... Swimming and sauna also helps. If ya stick an elastic band into a freezer, it will snap when you take it out.... Your muscles are the same.... You need to gently warm up and stretch..:p
 
Fcuk me we're starting to sound like the cast of towie lolo we'll be asking wheres he best place to get our wowbrows done next lolol
