Assistant/Trainee Quantity Surveyor

Whetstone (Full Time, Permanent)

Assistant/Trainee Quantity Surveyor - Whetstone, London
Workstream's client is one of the foremost scaffolding subcontractors servicing London and the Home Counties. The company is undergoing huge growth and as a result of this it is now looking to appoint a permanent Assistant/Trainee Quantity Surveyor. This person will have knowledge and experience of managing the financial aspects of their numerous scaffolding contracts. The ideal applicant will be meticulous in their work and have an ability to cope with pressure to meet our client’s deadlines.

This position will be based in our Whetstone head office and travel to sites will be required.

The role requires a qualified Quantity Surveyor with experience of working for either a main contractor or sub-contractor for at least 12 months. Ideally the position is suited to someone who is looking to specialise in this specific area of construction.

Main Duties Include:

• Preparing tenders; including taking off from drawings, preparing B of Q’s/ schedules, and pricing accordingly
• Undertaking project specific cost/value reconciliations
• Keeping up-to-date records and preparing progress reports
• Preparing interim valuations
• Liaising with the client
• Co-ordinating with site team
• Tracking Variations and preparing associated costs build-ups

To be considered for this post, applicants must have:

• Minimum HND/HNC (equivalent) qualification in related subject
• The ability to work under pressure
• Professional manner with excellent written and oral communication skills

The remuneration package on offer is approximately £20k per annum.

If you are interested in applying for this role and think you fit the bill, please call Workstream's Bicester head office on (Apply online only) (Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:30) or use the email link below to send us your CV and a covering letter.

Workstream welcomes job applications from all suitably qualified candidates. We regret, however, that we are unable to offer employment to anyone without documented proof of their right to live and work in the EU/EEA.

Again, I feel by the job description it should rate around £30-35k which is the base figure for a similar start currently with a main contractor.
An experienced scaffolding surveyor in the Greater London area will easily command upward of £50k in todays market.
Anyone starting on this low a figure in a now expanding construction market will not stay long with them.
