Hi, I am looking for a new job, I am from North Yorkshire, Got my part 2 Layher/System Scaffolding and part 1 tube and fitting, I am looking for eitha job, As would like to get my part 2 tube and fit and learn more in it, I am 21 and been doing scaffolding 3years, Looking for work anywhre in the UK, I am at the moment working for a company in yorkshire (ACORN), I am Doing a minimum of 70hours a week so i dont mind doing the hours and dont mind the hard work, Just doing the hours i am doing and gettin the crap wage i am, Doesnt justify the work that i am having to do day in day out... Anyways if any1 got any info about jobs please email me , thanks Gaz.

Hi Gaz got this text last last week from RHL agency they normaly pay 14/15 per hr , but you really need a min of part 2 t&f for anything decent.

Is steve spout still at acorn ? I see them wizzing all over they seen busy which many firms arntat the minute. Good luck.
 
Nah steve aint still at acorn, Not that i know of ha, Yea they are a busy firm. Got alot of work on, due to big events that is going on down london. Just the rate of pay is ****. But only bonus is as many hours as u want... any day of the week.. but problem been its flat rate regardless how many hours u do, and what day you work.
 
Better still ring Phil Wetten at SAY he's your main man .Or try Darren Wothers at HT Scaffolding
 
Thanks for info i will give them both a try, A few people have left Acorn a few months back and went to SAY, but only down fall is, Acorn is guarnted work all year round, If i go to SAY because im probly the last in, i most likely be the first out at xmas...
 
Grass is always greener & all that!! But now is not the time to try your hand at more money unless you have a supply of rocking horse shat!!

Good luck if you do. Constant work is better than good money 4-5 days a week:wacko:

Fair point, but can you justify working 70hours a week, monday to friday and just bringing home £400? I mean i wouldnt really know as only firm iv worked at but apparently thats not so good, Any comments? Dont get me wrong i dont mind hard work and dont mind the hours and this company deffently has them 2, but the wage is poor. Reason for the hours and the poor wage is due to been flat rate regardless how many hours u do, if u do saturday or sunday.. wteva its jst flat rate. What would people recommend, stay put or would you do same and try find somthing else??

I am part 2 system (layher) and part 1 tube and fit, and i do 70hours monday to friday mate, Work for 5:15ish, home earliest 7:30ish, but most of time 8,8:30. So doing these hours for the money i am on doesnt justify it, I have had enough now, Iv been here 3years and there is other people who are even worse off than me who are on worse money and been here alot longer but it is still poor. Done my time here i think, Going to pay myself to get part 2 tube and fit, Just so i've got it, i do enjoy system tho. Does anybody know some places around north yorkshire that do the training for t&f part2, and am i right in thinking it is around 900pounds?
 
Do your part 2 mate, i would recommend Safety and Access at Nottingham for a good course provider, then get yourself your safety passport. Once you have those 2 try and get on the industrial circuit, you might have travel but for 7 x 10's you will definately be picking up over 900. :idea:
Also if you call Safety and Access they will be able to tell you about 'Train to gain' I know a couple of part 1's (both under 25) who did this and got their course paid for by the goverment, not sure if it is still happening now the goverment has changed but worth checking out.

Gaz,do you know gav Boulton or Andrew Webster,they both worked for Acorn..
 
Daz, yea andrew webster that name rings a bell, but i never knew gav boulton, where they from leeds?
