Last updated Tue 4 Mar 2014

A worker has been rescued from a scaffolding rig after falling from the roof of a building this afternoon.

The man, in his 40s, had been working on the roof of the town centre property in Castle Hill, Dudley, when he fell at around 3.15pm today.

It is thought he fell around eight feet, through the planks of the scaffolding platform he had been standing on to a platform below.

Ambulance crews treated the man for a shoulder injury before strapping him to a specialist stretcher. He was then lifted down to safety with the help of the fire service’s hydraulic platform.

The man was taken to Russells Hall Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
