The HSE are a joke they should be going round inspecting jobs. The last 2 jobs that came down have been luckily not to have killed anyone.
The councils give a bit of paper to say its ok to erect scaffolds but they need to control this also. Employ inspectors with power to stop a job / request drawing / and pull tests ??
Just my thoughts what's yours ????

very lucky andy must have been really early you walked passed there at the wrong time and you would be brown bread any body that puts that sort of scaffold up without ties are asking for trouble wether its windy or not feel more embarassed for the scaffolders that have to go and strike it

Someone's going to be using a stihlsaw tomorrow instead of a spanner

Surely not !!! There was a nice vid clip of a collapse the other month and right at end two artics with the butterfly on them

Not sure who it is but it is a right mess. Don't envy the gang that get sent to sort it. Look at those ladders further up, how the hell do you take that down safely?

funny you say that i seen an advert looking for an experienced scaffold inspector with a nebosh/construction to train up the councils own men. you can see what is wrong with that, the council will not employ scaffolders with scaffolding experience to train up and would rather put a traffic warden through as he has experience with a ticket machine.

Cherrypicker, stihlsaw and make sure the HSE inspector is on his teabreak

Need a suit of armour also... case you get a Tube spring back and whack you in the head, lol.

Got a phone call Sunday afternoon, working for a small company I joined on Wednesday. Grabbed my tools, got on the tube thinking my employer has over reacted, nah mate. Worst Sunday ever, 3 handed striking someone else's mess! not enough ties and they client screwed wood through the mono to the toe board, kite. Ties were removed to fit windows.
Put ties in it wherever I could, supported it were I could and cut all mono off. Built 20 x20 tower narrowing to a 10 ft tower then we struck everything by spanner. Had to stop at 10 pm for safety reasons then finished Monday evening, one of my pals broke his hand undoing a unit beam in a c shape. Crazy!
Not working for them anymore
