Hello chaps im looking at getting into the scaffolding industry. Im 25 years old and laboured on a small scaffolding company for about a year when i was 19ish. Worked on sites since leaving school but thats my only scaffolding experience.

What would be your advice, to ring local companies and ask for labouring positions? Im currently employed in the industrial coatings industry but wanting to get the hell out and build a career in scaffolding.
Id be willing to do work trials, work weekends etc if an employer wanted to test me out before taking on full time.

Ive got my ccnsg passport, confined space ticket and randomly all my offshore tickets even though ive never been off.

Any advice on companies in my area or how to start off would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Oh aye, I worked for them just as they turned to SAY instead of S.......A.......Y.......
SMART MOVE ON HIS PART THAT....
and also around the time someone in the office was knocking off his wife (allegedly)

My advice would be to do just that. Your age and existing qualifications will put you ahead of most. I wouldn't maybe tell them about the BOSIET as they may feel they will train you to immediately jump offshore. Be prepared for poor wages and hard graft to start with though. Don't pay for your part 1 if you can avoid it. Nothing worse than a part 1 who doesn't know how to put on a double, stay on the deck and the training will come.
