Hello all. Had an interesting day. Got a text from my boss explaining that he was pissed off with all the lads on the firm. Told us all that if we wanted to carry on working for him we should turn up at the yard 9am tomorrow for an interview and he would decide which of us to keep. There are 16 of us now and he wants to keep 8.

Long story short I told him to count me out. Not interested in that crap.

Anyway, I am currently doing some work studying for some H&S qualifications and trying to get my own company up and running.

I was wondering what your views were on agency work. I am looking to get a few days a week in, leaving time for me to do my own thing.

Does anyone have any advice on which would be the best agencies to contact?

where abouts in the country are you & if you will oblige what are you thinking of doing in h&s is it just in scaffolding?:)

hello mate. I am in Milton Keynes. As far as H&S is concerned, yes I am looking to get more involved in the h&s side of scaffolding, in particular looking towards scaff inspections.
 
ive never done any agency work but i suppose its if thats all thats available at least the spanners are still turning and your still earning
 
im in same boat mate tryin to get ma own firm up n running! Been goin thru the agencies for a while the best 1 iv came across is abc they r nation wide cameron is the man to speak to here in edinburgh tho. Just chek ur pay slips iv had a few tenners randomly go walkies from my pay but hav had it payd to me after pointin it out!

watch all the hidden extras!!! Depending on CIS:wacko: PAYE or Umbrella payments sometimes gets confusing!!

BESC card

Its a one day course on a Sub station, but you also have to be National grid inducted which is another days course, total cost is around £300!! I dont have any contact numbers but am sure if you type in Google it will tell you what to do. I hope this helps!! Cheers

Gotta say lads forfront in my opinion is the best agency about I've got me besc and grid card I think my mate has allready spoke to you about it.
