Agency scaffs

How do you find agency scaff's, I find the agency's helpfull and well run but I do wonder if they even know the blokes they send you, and have you ever had one that you wanted to keep, I know it's asking alot for a temp to work his nuts off but really some of them can't seem to get there hands out of there pockets
 
Have only used agency blokes a few times about ten years ago , usually as unreliable as our own men , no shows and some are useless , however have heard there are a few specialist scaffold agencys that now vet all the labour - and we are looking to move over to agency on some jobs
Think octain and forefront are the better agencys at this end
 
I worked on agency for laing o rourke a while back. The scaffs were alright a few used to work for lyndons so knew their stuff. But their was no leadership they just chucked us together gave us the plan and basically said erect. So everybody was trying to claim topdog!
 
ssuk are a good set up based in barnsley, worked for them for over a year now.


@ dan and aps which site in manchester for laings, bury shopping centre or oldham rochdale line?

I worked for an agency for Laing O'rouke last year and only the agency lads ( Coyles ) did anything that wasn't a straightforward independent , their own scaffolders and management were not good enough to be useless, in fact I ended being laid off early for complaining about the lack of safety and poor quality of the scaffolding. So much for being responsible for your safety and others around you.

There used to be an agency from the Stevenage area we used at Palmers, they were sh*te, they couldn't get up speed if they fell off the scaffold, all the lads tickets were doctored, the ones that did actualy turn in all smoked weed, a complete waste of time.We would have been better not taking on the work in the first place than taking on the clowns that agency sent us. I have to say though as times are now hard and decent guys have been layed off there are some decent blokes employed by agency's as there's not been a lot about. One of the agency's who contact me all the time want £17.50 per hour for and advanced scaff, I wonder how much the scaff gets out of that?
 
i will second that swifty,,,,,like laings men building a tower 100 ft up in the air supported by a hilty ring with a double on the standard to stop the tube and tower falling through the ring to the ground,,,,,,,,,good scaffs them burks mate.
 
The agencies will have loads of ticketed scaffs on their books,but that doesnt mean to say they are all up to a good standard.They dont know the qualities of the men on their books,they just supply to demand,suppose its pot luck really..

Orac it was neither mate. Was on GMEX in Manchester City centre.
Heard the Bury job was a big one at the Rock though. Its just opened this week.

True that Daz had agencys ring me "have you got your card mate. yep. Then can you start tmoz" Could have meant a birthday card for all they know.:nuts:
 
i worked a company called mbc north east and they supplied me to McAlpines on the metro centre all the lads i was with were grafters no chancers among them.

hi. l woz workin 4 robert hurst ltd,nd they where vvgud as an agency nd got paid no problems,l wud reccommend them. they knew the jobs nd knew the score. nik nd andy,2 ov the best.

Thats good to hear mate, Andy rings up quite often but as yet Ive not needed their help, its always a plus when the guys who work for the agency say they are ok.

thanks dangeruss. only spk as l find. coz,ov 'em gotta perminent job nd it's ok,but l wud deffo go nd see 'em if it goes pear-shaped

I am working for agency in glasgow called BSML not a bad mob never had any problems,pay not bad .

I keep having a pop at those cowboys, they just won't defend themselves the old L'oR tossers. I wonder why ? MAYBE THEIR CARDS ARE FAKE !!!!!!!!!!!
 
We had two just this week proper lazy on my job mon so I got shot only for us to give them some more work on another site where there behaviour towards the client could end up costing us anymore of there work, they upset the whole site over a missing bucket. I'm sure after some of the posts on here there are some good blokes out there I've just not met one, at best I can only say they will do but get shot 1st chance so please someone come to my job and prove me wrong

Using alot of agency scaffs over here and its grim not only have they not got a clue but some dont even come with tools , so we ring the office and let them know whats going on but all they are interested in is that they have supplied another scaffolder so get on with it, but in all fairness to these guys they are geting paid peanuts so why should give it there all
