Im working offshore and was wondering what peoples opinions are on either doing the advanced ticket or just going straight into nebosh cert then diploma ,has anyone recently gained their nebosh ?

Nearly finished , but id recommend Neebosh & if you could get health & safety work offshore its the best start and money you can get in the industry

Obviously depends on what path you wish to take - to continue turning your spanner or go into h&s.
I dont know about offshore but if i had to decide who to take on.an advanced or a pt2 with nebosh ....tbh it would be the advanced holder.

If you have nearly finished it Jon77 I hope you didn't spell it like that in you're exam matey.

Reading the threads on here about offshore it seems mega hard to get offshore for scaffolders ie they only want blokes that have experience in that sector and won't touch newbies is that the case for h & s professionals?

I think it's the case for any job on the rigs mate, not what tickets or out like that but who you know!

Not all it's cracked up to be these days either.
Advanced or Part 2 your on the same rate, your 12 days off are great. The money not so great at present.

Nice one Steve I'm on £20s now but even minimum wage would work out better for me on the rigs as I wouldn't be spending it lol

thanks lads ,i think im more worried about the study side of the nebosh ,its been 20 yrs since i was at school ,im going to take the plunge i think ,the money side in h and s offshore is too appealing

Go for it pal. I did mine a couple of years ago after more than 35 years of spanner work. You'll be surprised how quickly you get into the classroom side of things.
Good Luck

I've been considering it for a while now. Just had a look and they're doing it for £800ish in Glasgow City centre, evening class. Going to get it booked. If you can't beat em, join em.:noworry:
