Don't do it they are a pain in the ar*e , you have to have a card reader a company digital tacho card, all you lads need a digital card @ £38 each you need a downloader so you can down load your info once a month. If there was ever a way to complicate things this was it.
we don't use ours , if you work 30 miles or less from your yard you dont need to fill in a tacho at all ( must be scaffolder driving though) so we use our new Merc with the digital tacho for this. Another tip the VOSA man told me ,if you get pulled for over loading ,as long as you are on your way to the nearest public weighbridge to weigh your load you can't be prosecuted. Interpret that as you will.

Thanks for the quick reply Russ, when you say don't do it, do you mean, don't buy a lorry with one, or don't use it (the tacho) and/or can you still use the old paper discs

Likewise digi tachs , adblue are a pian in the arse , hense gone back to pre euro 4 vehicles , tried that one with the 30 mile radius as the crow flies theres a lot of contradiction with that VOSA down here said that once start using tachos keep using them.
Just got done for 2 overloads over last month , used the on way to weighbridge on second pull and was told irrelevent.
Dangeruss - not discrediting your info but there is a lot of contradiction with VOSA and certainley there different regions

get a f*****g horse and cart mate,,,,,much less complicated

We tried that and we are now been taken to court by the RSPCA
The highways agency also said they will sue us if we dont clear up the Sh*t, The Enviroment Agency said we must dispose of it responsibly and a Pikey has nicked the cart!

I got a tardis lot more room & you get a toilet & stack facility.

The tele-porter is the way to go :D

Capt Jim Kirk did me a tidy bit of kit, at a nice price

the firm he worked for got shot of him and I think he was selling the gear off cheap behind thier backs
