400-new-apprentices-challenge-nasc-members

im sure recruiting 400 low paid apprentices will be easy for NASC member companies , not a challenge.

why is it not surprising that the NASC has a president , its corrupt and looks after its own interests just like some country's with a president.

HSWT

aye, one Mans terrorist is an other Mans freedom fighter...

Creating 400 apprenticeships throughout the NASC Membership should be comparatively easy...perhaps, this is the start of some home grown Scaffolders to fill the Agency requirements at a later date...lets hope that the indoctrination process is the correct one...

Oh and thanks for your kind word on another post ( calling all impact wrench users )...

Thats a good thing for the youngsters that want to get in to our industry. If they dont take it up who will.

TBH, I'de never heard of apprentiships in scaffolding till coming on the forum. Who here has done one?? Other trades have Day release for college over a few years whileworking with pro's.Then once time served you can access new tech/advancement. How does it work for wannabe scaffs

They used to do the cecol at Bircham Fred but now its a 2 week induction then much just the usual process of part 1 and 2 except that they get 3 weeks for each then a final 2 weeks assessment. I think that's it, might just be a week for assessment. I used to know when I missed the boys that went but now it's just a relief to see the back of them for a bit. ;)

Im Like Fred, Always Thought Scaffolding Wasnt A Recognised Trade, And Was Regarded As A Semi Skill, In The Fact That If You Could Do The Job Physically You Could Come To Scaffolding At Any Age, Now Although We Are Still Not A Recognised Trade We Have Apprentices, How Does That Work?

There's been an apprenticeship scheme for years boys, I have always used it. I think it releases more funding when it has a tag. The funding is good, it's the rest that concerns me.

Gerscaff, there are a few different levels for apprentices, we are still one of the lowest.

We've got three apprentices on for us, all at different levels. They go to ncc midlands every 3 months for two weeks at a time and then go for a week to do their final assesment. What puzzles me is the fact that after 21 months they are passed out as a fully qualified part 2 scaff, without an ouce of common sence.

We have 2 Den, couldn't recognise a straight line between them if their lives depended on it. We have to wait 6 months between courses up here to make sure they have the right experience.

They should follow that practise down here al. I can easily say the apprentise under my supervision isnt getting a chance to spanner cos the job im on just deosn't give me the time to show him. So how can he go back to college and say he's ready for his part 1....honest answer is he cant.

It's always a problem with no easy answer. If I had another chance to start from scratch I would stand and watch more and do a lot less. I blame commercial pressure but we all have pressure of some description.

He aint an aprentice then Den, more like a lab. Why not a spanna from the off.
